Baby Shower and Reunion....all in one!!

You may remember a few weeks back I told you about reconnecting with Jennifer, who was my general manager when I worked at Chili's in high school and after high school. You can read that post here. Anyway fast forward to three weeks ago when Jennifer sent me an email to get my address so I could be invited to a mutual friend's baby shower. Cara and I worked together at Chili's for a couple of years. She was in nursing school at the time and she helped encourage me to follow my dream and go to nursing school myself. Cara is pregnant with her first child after years of trying and several miscarriages. So of course I was all about helping her celebrate the baby's upcoming arrival.

I haven't seen Jennifer or Cara in several years....probably 12 or 14 years. The shower was great and the reunion was even better :)
Now this is my kind of bottle....
And my kind of cookies....
Apparently they are Kari's kind of cookies too....
Jennifer and I....
Jennifer, Cara, and I.....reunited after all these years!!
Now, let's get down to the best part of the shower (besides the food, of course!)....PRESENTS!!!

The baby's first Halloween costume....too cute!!

One of Cara's friends made the following two pictures to hang in her nursery.....the picture doesn't do them justice....they were so cool!

Cara made a haul....I think they are officially ready for the arrival of their sweet boy.

Some of my favorites...

This diaper bag is the coolest....almost makes me want to have another baby just so I can carry this cool diaper bag. Don't worry...no more babies here....I don't even have the parts. But I really want this diaper bag....it is leopard print with a cute orange buckle.

The whale tub...who wouldn't love a whale tub??? Does this come in adult size???
Next on the agenda was cake...yummy cake!
The girls waiting patiently (or impatiently) for their slice of cake....
What a great way to spend the afternoon. Good food and good company, but the absolute best part of the whole thing was this....
Spending time with my sweet girl

I love this girl!

Until next time....

There are three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love. 1Corinthians 13:13

This afternoon, Kari and I attended our favorite babysitter, Rachel's bridal shower. Rachel has been watching Kari since she was around 2 and still does now and again...even though she has a "real" job! We are so excited for her and can't wait for the big day in December. Rachel is so special to us!

I had a blast picking out kitchen items off her registry at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. And it was quite a registry....I had to call her and give her a hard time about it! It might have been easier for her to list what she didn't want!!! Anyway, my creative juices were flowing so I put everything together in a basket.

And I topped it off with a little homemade card...
So, back to today....we had a great luncheon with yummy quiche and salad and not to mention the dessert!
She got tons of great presents...

Hmmm....looks like I have a little competition in the creativity department!!
Look at all this loot....makes me want to have another shower for myself just to get some cool new stuff!!

Check out her cool "bouquet" from all the ribbons...(one of her friends is a master at making these!!)

Here is the bride-to-be with all her bridesmaids....

...and getting some Kari lovin'!

Thank you, Rachel, for including us in your bridal shower. We had a great time! We are so happy for you and Rob...we wish you both a lifetime of happiness!! We can't wait for the wedding!!

Until next time....

Welcome to adulthood....

How exactly are you supposed to spend your first day as an adult??? Ashley's day started off with a bang....

Early this morning (like 7am early), two of Ashley's sweet friends came over to give her car a little birthday makeover! They then proceeded to go in and jump on her bed screaming happy birthday...poor Ashley, she didn't know what hit her!!

Then we all headed out to IHOP for a yummy birthday breakfast of pancakes and eggs!!

Next it was time for presents....

Kari made Ashley a cute homemade pop-up card!

I think she likes it!!

Don't be jealous of the hot rubber boots she got (she needs them for the FFA barn)! Now we are to every one's favorite part of the day....the cake!!

To top it all off....Ashley just called to tell us that her mom had taken her to play Bingo tonight (one of the perks of being 18??) and she won $200!! Must be Birthday luck!!

Happy 18th Birthday Ashley!

Until next time....
