Kids These Days!

So...this story is just too funny not to blog about. Kari got a plastic compass in her happy meal from McDonald's yesterday. So we get home and I find her in the living room with her compass in hand. Here is how the conversation went:

Kari (to the compass):"Take me to my room! Take me to my room!"

Kari:"Mom, this thing doesn't work!"

Me: "What do you mean it doesn't work?"

Kari: "It won't tell me how to get to my room!"

Me: "Kari, it is a compass, not a navigation system."

Kari: "Well, then what is a compass for?"

Me: "To tell you which direction you are going in....for example, if you are lost in the forest."

Kari: "Oh."

So, let's just hope that she never gets lost in the forest one day because she doesn't know how to use a compass, but she can use a navigation system!! She then asked me later, "Wouldn't it be a better compass if it told you how to get somewhere just in case you were lost?" Apparently, the simple things of days past have no meaning for kids these days...Kari would much rather find her way to her room with a navigation system than a compass!!
Kari with her compass!

The navigation system from "back in the day."

Until next time.....
