Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. - Henry David Thoreau

We took Ashley to college on Thursday….and left her there.  Nobody told me about the roller coaster of emotions I would have about this day.  Nobody told me I would have anxiety for weeks before she left, just knowing she was leaving soon.  Nobody told me I could be so excited and so sad all at the same time.  Nobody told me I was going to cry for an hour and a half on the drive home after leaving her….feeling like I left a piece of myself behind.  Nobody told me I would feel “lost” just knowing that she was no longer 5 minutes away, but 5 hours away.  Nobody told me I was going to have to find a new “normal”.  Nobody told me….

So I am here to tell you because one day you will be here, too.  It is the most proud, exciting, heart wrenching moment ever.

We headed out early Thursday morning with our cars packed with way more stuff than Ashley will ever need.  Five hours later we were standing in line to check her into her dorm room.  And then the big move in began….

Ummmm…yes, those made the 5 hour trip to Galveston also.

It gets easier each day.  I miss her so much, but I am so excited for her.  She is going confidently in the direction of her dreams…

Until next time….
